APG|SGA remains market leader in the city of Lucerne despite reduction in spaces

November 2, 2015

The city of Lucerne has decided to no longer award APG|SGA the contracts for poster advertising on public land. This decision brings an end to the city of Lucerne's long and successful cooperation with the market leader in out-of-home advertising. Owing to its traditionally strong presence with spaces on private land, APG|SGA remains the number 1 in the city and will offer advertisers a modified product range. Specifically, this means that just under 300 spaces on public land (excl. small format F4) will no longer be part of APG|SGA's range. With more than 800 spaces in total (excl. small format F4), the market leader still has a broad, attractive portfolio of spaces.

In a tender procedure, the city of Lucerne decided to award the management of its advertising media on public land elsewhere from 2016, although the exact point in time is not yet known due to possible appeals and clarification of further terms. Three providers tendered offers for the four lots. APG|SGA submitted bids for individual lots but was unsuccessful. Markus Ehrle, CEO of APG|SGA, commented as follows: «We would have liked to continue our partnership with the city of Lucerne. However, given our strong presence on private land, we were not prepared to do so at any cost. Our bid was attractive from a price perspective. We also believe that with our innovative solutions regarding digital city maps we could have offered real added value for residents and tourists. The city of Lucerne also took this into account in its evaluation and gave the highest rating to the concepts submitted ». APG|SGA was also the only provider to be awarded top marks for its reference projects in other cities.

APG|SGA still strong in the city of Lucerne
Despite the reduction in spaces, APG|SGA remains the number one on the streets of Lucerne thanks to its traditionally strong presence on private land in the city. The market leader also offers customers exclusive prime spaces at Lucerne station. Two new digital Rail eBoards have recently been installed in the most attractive location immediately adjacent to SBB's general display board. There are also six Rail ePanels available to advertisers. «With our presence on private land we will continue to offer our customers virtually the same poster products. We are slightly modifying our F200L poster networks by reducing the range by two networks and continuing to provide individual spaces in their place», explains Beat Holenstein, Head of Partner & Product Management.
