APG|SGA remains market leader in the city of Zurich despite reduction in spaces
Zurich Public Transport (VBZ) has decided that the majority of the award of the concession for its analogue advertising spaces from 2017 will no longer go to APG|SGA. As a result, the long-standing, successful cooperation between VBZ and Switzerland’s market leader in out-of-home advertising will end on 1 January 2017. APG|SGA regrets this decision. The company will continue to offer advertising customers extensive, homogeneous coverage of the city with exclusive sites at prime locations in the heart of Zurich, such as Bahnhofstrasse, Zurich's main station and its shopping centre ShopVille.
VBZ decided in a public tender to award the five-year contract for its advertising spaces to other providers with effect from 1 January 2017. APG|SGA had bid on the individual lots, but was only awarded a small part. Markus Ehrle, CEO of APG|SGA, commented as follows: «We would have liked to continue our long-standing partnership with VBZ at cost-effective terms, and regret VBZ’s decision. For economic reasons, we were not ready to pursue the award at any cost. Evidently, and for reasons that are unclear to us, our competitor submitted a tender that is above our current effective sales.»
Switzerland’s leading out-of-home advertising company will continue to offer advertising customers competitive analogue and digital locations for innovative campaigns. Owing to its extensive portfolio of space, APG|SGA offers opportunities for high-coverage campaigns distributed across the entire city as well as for premium locations in the heart of the city. With over 4,000 analogue and digital advertising spaces (from 1 January 2017), APG|SGA retains a strong position in Zurich.
