Lovely is scaling new heights, thanks to the Federation of Swiss Milk Producers and APG|SGA
Lovely – who is well known throughout Switzerland – will surprise passers-by at Berne’s train station for a month. Smiling, and from a height of over six metres, she welcomes visitors to the capital’s main station.
Switzerland’s most famous dairy cow has many hobbies, including football, yoga and cycling. This year, one of her activities – climbing – will be featured in 3D. In the northern hall of Berne’s main station, Lovely climbs up a MegaPoster and lives up to the slogan: «Milk. Your natural fitness programme».
Extremely weather-resistant
This 3D installation was developed in close cooperation with the Federation of Swiss Milk Producers/AMS Media and APG|SGA Mega Poster. A small plaster model served as the basis and was then digitized with a 3D scanner. A CNC machine then used the 3D data to mill the individual parts out of expanded polystyrene (EPS), which were glued together and finished by hand. The next step involved adding a synthetic resin coating. This makes Lovely extremely weather-resistant – a crucial requirement for outdoor advertising. The final touch was the paint, which was applied using an airbrush.
Specialized assembly work
Qualified structural designers tested and approved the assembly device produced specially for Lovely. The partner company «richnerstutz ag» spent over six hours assembling the structure during the night. Lovely will be in Berne’s station until 15 July 2012.
