Lausanne's public transport companies choose APG

June 27, 2011

Public transport companies in the Lausanne region have chosen an advertising partner for their poster areas on the city's metro system (stops and vehicles on lines m1 and m2) and on public buses (operated by tl – Transport Publics de la région lausanneoise): APG has been awarded the contract to exclusively market the outdoor advertising spaces for the next five years.

APG has registered another major success as the leading company in the outdoor advertising sector. This exclusive contract gives APG the right to market and control the poster spaces on the Lausanne metro (lines m1 and m2) as well as tl's transit advertising.

The metro lines m1 and m2 link Lausanne's city centre with the major points of interest in the wider Lausanne area, e.g. Ouchy, UNIL, the mainline rail station, Flon, St-François and Riponne. 130,000 passengers use these lines each day, while tl's buses carry approx. 200,000 people.

Light-box surfaces and digital formats
As of 1 January 2012, APG will supplement its existing range with appealing light-box surfaces and be even better placed to meet customer needs. The outstanding offering in the Lausanne region will be complemented by additional advertising points and new products in harmony with passenger comfort and stations' overall architecture.

As previously, APGTraffic will market the advertising spaces in and on tl's vehicles and is equipped to enhance its offering with new digital formats in the vehicles. Furthermore, e-Advertising, an APG profit centre, has been offering appealing digital advertising media at the stops. The implementation date is yet to be fixed.

"With this tender, and by applying our extensive out-of-home expertise, we have been able to bring our strengths to bear", says Olivier Chabanel, Head of Acquisition – Western Region APG. Daniel Flück, Managing Director of APG-Traffic, also believes that APG's proven track record and flair for innovation won the partner over.

Winning this major tender reinforces APG's position as Switzerland’s leading "out-of-home" advertising company.

About the company
APG AG is the clear market leader in Swiss out-of-home advertising. As a subsidiary of Affichage Holding SA, the company offers poster sites at busy locations all over Switzerland. Using one of the largest natural gas-fuelled vehicle fleets, the regular trips made by its employees to expertly hang posters in urban and out-of-town settings have minimal environmental impact. With over a century of experience at these diverse sites, APG combines quality with long-standing tradition.

Independent since 2006, APG-SGA Traffic AG is the Affichage out-of-home media group's specialized transit advertising unit in Switzerland. Operating as an exclusive partner to over 90% of all Swiss transport companies, it markets indoor spaces and outdoor faces on around 4,200 vehicles. The company is run on a decentralized basis and has a presence on the ground throughout Switzerland.

e-advertising was established in 2000 as a profit centre of Allgemeine Plakatgesellschaft. Using outsized LED and LCD displays, e-advertising provides "animated" advertising faces at Switzerland's principal stations that are both entertaining and easily remembered.
