APG reduces carbon footprint by 20%.
APG, a subsidiary of Affichage Holding SA, reduced its carbon footprint in 2008 by 20% compared to 2004. The out-of-home poster advertising company continues to be an industry role model in Switzerland. APG not only runs the largest private fleet of natural gas or hybrid-powered vehicles in the country, but the company now also uses energy with the "naturemade star" label.
"Wir sorgen für saubere Luft." ("We're keeping the air clean.") APG has used this slogan to launch a poster campaign throughout Switzerland. The campaign is based on facts documented in detail in the latest environmental report. As well as running the largest gas-powered vehicle fleet in Switzerland, the company succeeded in reducing its overall carbon footprint by 20% compared to 2004. Backlit advertisements are powered exclusively by green energy. This has led to a 50% reduction in the carbon footprint produced by electricity consumption since 2006.
APG's target for 2008 was to use exclusively green electricity to power its backlit advertisements. This was achieved through the purchase of electricity with the "naturemade star" label, one of the most stringently controlled energy sources available. One centime of every Swiss franc spent on energy from this source is donated to a fund for ecological improvement measures.
"As a responsible business partner, we are committed to reducing our impact on the environment. APG's contribution to sustainability is nothing new – we have been pursuing a systematic environmental management policy for ten years,“ says Ivan Schultheiss, Managing Director of APG.
